Emotionally Wealthy

Coming home for the weekend, what do I happen to find other then my Mao-chan DVDs have already arrived plus today my three Mai-HiME books came in via USPS. I’m very surprised it only took two weeks for the books to arrive since I figured it’ll take a bit longer. Thank you amazon.co.jp for totally kicking arse!

Adding more to my slowly amassing amount of anime goods, I went over to the local BestBuy today to pick up X TV: Collection Vol 1 (Vol 1-4, $40), R.O.D. TV Vol 2-3 ($15 each, plus still had the mini-pencil board editions), and Tsukihime Vol 2 ($15).

Originally I was only going to pick up Tsukihime since I loved the series and for $15, getting the second volume was a steal! For the other two series… I just lost it. I enjoyed X TV and was planning to eventually pick up the DVDs so figured since the first half is already priced at $10 per disc might as well do it now. R.O.D. TV was probably the biggest impulse buy as I had mixed feelings for the series but for $15 each, especially if I could find the ones with the extras, was worth the cost. Unfortunately now I have to add to my “need to collect the rest” list X TV and R.O.D. TV. Still need to also get the second half of Chobits and Azumanga Daioh, plus maybe the rest of Ikkitousen and Sister Princess if they ever become made cheap. Also definitely have to get the second season of Kaleido Star if that ever comes out….

… &(*@$…. I might be happy that I can pick up anime dvds for the cheap but this hobby of mine is sure costing me! (Also doesn’t help that I pre-ordered R2 AIR TV LE Vol 1-2 for a total of $120. Probably the only series I’m willing to put down the dough for the imports since it’s very unlikely AIR will ever get licensed States side.)

I’ll leave off with some quick shots I took of my recent purchases as I bang my head against the wall for spending when I shouldn’t have!

Purchases and Broke-age

This Spring Break has been horrible on my wallet. In the course of 1 1/2 weeks, I’ve ended up spending:

• $34 for Comic Party DVDs Vol 1-4
• $22 for Dai-Guard Complete Collection
• $26 for Gunparade March Complete Collection (including Tin Box)
• $60 in US released manga (Tsubasa 4, xxxHolic 4, Sgt. Keroro 7, Imadoki! 5, Ikkitousen 6, and Junk Force 3)
• $120 in Japanese manga (check this entry)
• $53 for three Mai-HiME artbooks (1, 2, and 3)
• $43 for Mao-chan DVDs Vol 1-4

Plus add in the fact I have three pre-orders that should hit my wallet within an month or two (Tenjo Tenge Pinky Aya Figure and BOME Aya & Maya Figures) for an total cost of $100, and it’s total broke-ville for me. Between all the stuff I’ve recently purchased and my current $750ish CC debt, I have to stop spending if I plan to pay for all of this right before I graduate and lose my easy university job!

Crap, how did I get so bad this year?! I barely spent last year but now….

NYC Walking

Long day… been in NY since 11am and got back home around 2am. Pretty good day I guess, since all we did was go to anime places I wanted to check out and I ended up spending a good $100 on japanese manga. Lots of eating and walking throughout the whole day as we (being myself, James, Jan, and Waisoon) ended up backtracking to go to different places.. go fig.

What Kinokuniya Bookstore in NY “made” me buy:

• Air Gear 8
• Ichigo 100% 9, 13-14
• Mai-HiME 2-3
• Tenjo Tenge 1, 8-10
• Tsubasa Hardcovers 2, 9

I was pretty happy with my buys, though not so happy about the total cost. I kind of wished I picked up one of those 1/144 HG Gundam SEED Destiny models like Gaia Gundam or Zaku Warrior (Lunamaria version) and one of those Gundam SEED Destiny figures ($8-10) I saw throughout the day. I guess they can wait until later… considering I just ordered a new pair of headphones for home (Sennheiser HD-212 for $36) and picked up Gunparade March Complete Collection (plus Tin) for $26 from BestBuy. Might also go back to see if they have any Dai-Guard complete series left for $20! Thank you AoD forums for giving me the heads up on these awesome deals!
