Boxed Living

It’s time again my friends for my “I’m way too lazy to post detail descriptions of my recent purchases so I’ll take photos of my room instead” post! I would have done this sooner but you know me and laziness are perfect bed buddies. You can thank tsubaki of Anime Desho Desho? for making me move my lazy butt for once
North-East side of my room, directional wise I think. Also what you would see once you enter my room. I probably spend the majority of my time either on the chair or the bed. Don’t you love how I don’t even have to move that far to go between the two?
Walls are pretty bare as I have already gone through my phase of wallpapering my room with anime posters back in high school. I should also note that my computer area is what I like to think of as “a fire waiting to happen” considering all the wires are just dumped there, plus the heating units for my room are behind there. My greatest idea ever putting my most expensive items all in one easily flammable location eh?
South-East side of my room. Nothing too special over on this end since all my clothes, printed materials, and CDs are here. Also another great flammable location since my collection of comics (the box my shoes are on top of) is on top of the heating pipe for my room. I think I’m starting to see a pattern here… eerrr…
South of my room. Don’t mind the random patches of white since that was a quick patch job of filling holes where old metal shelves were. The only thing of importance is the majority of my PVC figure collection is shown in, which shows for all my talk about spending I actually don’t have many PVC figurines.
North-West of my room, finishing the general touring photos. Basically the majority of my gashapons, trading figures, and DVD collections. Also as in previously room photos, still keeping Oh! Great’s 2006 calender pieces hung up since the art is simply awesome.
And yes, I still have those flower bedsheets.
I’m no tj_han in terms of photographer ability or of taking care of my collection, but hey, everyone to their own. Nothing major in this photo other than Dengeki G’s Festival v4, Dengeki G’s Festival v3, Saber, and Magical Girl Rin.
All my single DVDs plus recently purchased ones. I have a really odd and incomplete collection of various anime titles thanks to various store sales. Really need to complete series like Chobits, Futakoi Alternative, Air, Mai-HiME, and X. Also should start watching Utena one of these days shouldn’t I?
My top favorite gashapons and trading figures… sort of! I am not positive if my photos can show it, but you wouldn’t believe how dusty my room and figures are. It’s more noticable on darker tone figures like Cagalli in the background but man, I really need to dust! One day I think I might… one day.
One thing I find funny in the photo is the clock. Why? The way my room is setup I pretty much use my computer’s clock to see the time. The only time I vaguley use the clock on this shelf is if I’m half asleep on the bed wondering what time it is. Other than that, it gathers dust just like the rest of my stuff in the room.
Nothing has changed from the last time I did a room photo tour. Well, I guess that’s not exactly accurate. Miyu is leaning more than ever plus it’s impossible to get Mikoto’s sword to attach! And of course, there’s a lot more dust than before.
Same as above though I did move Mai and Akane to this shelf instead of the black ones. Also Sayaka is slowly hitting that 45 degree leaning angle day by day… yes!
Actually what can’t be seen is I completed Bakuretsu Tenshi awhile back thanks to TRSI’s studio sale a few months ago. The series itself is kind of crap but Hakua Ugetsu designs, top cast voice actresses, and the radio drama made it worth while at least for me.
Fate/Stay Night slash TYPE-MOON shelf. The sad thing in regards to the DVDs is I’ll be buying the R1 release of Fate/Stay Night after just finishing the R2 release. Fanboyism is very harsh on the wallet isn’t it?
If one has noticed, I finally got the Palm Character Archer and Rin recently. Unfortunately any good feelings I may have had for the item was dashed away after reading DiGiKerot’s review. Also didn’t know they were really small… like gashapon size! (read: my space-size relationship abilities are zero)
Bottom shelves always feel like the “worst” ones since it is kind of hard to see whatever you put on/in them. In that avenue, I junked all my smaller boxsets that I’ve completed or got on the cheap plus some figures I had no clue where to put. Wish I could have put the Midori and Meer trading figures elsewhere but since I’m slowly running out of room, where they are now will have to do.
I have to love MegaHouse for creating the Gundam SEED Destiny PVC line! Too bad I’m missing out on the first Lunamaria Hawke MegaHouse made, even though I had it in my hands for a few days**.
I was discussing the topic of Lunamaria figurines with Zyl, and I think we were both in agreement that if a casual clothes version of her (i.e. when she was spying on Athrun) came out by MH we’ll be on top it like white on rice. For me at least, that would be the end all of Lunamaria figurines I would ever need to get. For Zyl, just another among the five or so he already has
** Went to Random Otaku, that lucky bastard.
My most recent haul of PVC figurines, at least the ones in the middle. Ohno seems out of place if you know all the other characters the figurines are based on… but at least she’s about equal with the rest of them in terms of er… assets?
(Yes, I’m running of out “witty” comments to say already)
I know I know. I seriously need to dust my room don’t I? I know that but I’m way too lazy to. I’m sort of hoping one of my parents will get bored and decide to clean/dust my room one day. If not, once the dust gets to about an inch thick I’ll think about dusting okay?
Every figure shown in the photo has come in pieces, unfortunately the Maya one in more pieces than it’s suppose to. Long story short, I’ve cracked and broken parts of the hair thereby throwing away the 100USD I intiially spent on it. The figurine is fixed but where I accidentally broke the hair is pretty noticable. D’oh!
Nothing new here that I haven’t already talked about in previous posts. More or less my Mai-HiME/Mai-Otome gashas shelf plus manga in the background.
Same as above but this time with Transformer Alternators!
I used to have my anime related CDs here but there got to be too many to display I had to move them. Just straight manga for now; the manga laid out is the current one I’m catching up on, which is Negima.
Bottom shelf has more manga and various other junk that just keeps piling on!
Same as previous room photo. Just my various anime artbooks and magazines that I can’t read and rarely look at more than once.
Sadly where my two standees are, plus my recent “Bag of Crap” items from woot.com. I have to figure a better place to put the standees else I’ll eventually dirty them since I put my shoes and clothes on around there.
Mountain upon mountain of CDs, legal and illegal. Two Mai-HiME PSP games, some plushies, and unsold trading figures round out the rest of this uninteresting photo. The only thing I can say is the current piles of CDs are a vast improvement compared to how it used to be.
Gundam and more Gundam! All the recent ones I’ve built over the past four years. Makes me realize I haven’t bought a gunpla in a long arse time. I think I converted what money I would have used on Gundam models to female figurines instead.
… don’t know if that’s good or bad.
Yes, 1/2 an inch of dust! What’s really sad is if you look at this photo is the fact that I’ve broken all my other Voltron lions except blue, am missing the land vechiles for Voltron vechiles, and my Macross toy is actually a Transformer toy. Sad or what huh?
I need something to stare at while at the computer don’t I? Definitely my top favorite Gundam SEED Destiny trading figures out of the current ones I own. Only wish Ninja Lucas’ hair wasn’t so hot-pinkish as I feel a tad bit gay eveytime I look at it.
(Yes, I’m really low on the comments if I’m typing up a gay related one)
Last stop. The very awesome and posable Revoltech Getter and Mai-HiME PC game. Talking about the game, currenly only cleared Natsuki’s path and am slowly working on Miyu’s. It’s not a bad game overall, loving all the Natsuki-ness there, but I wish there were more extras included in the game. I don’t mean in-game extras but all the good stuff like posters or mousepads or something! For a 90+USD game, I expected some cool goodies but only got a small game box (at least the art is good). Talk about highway robbery!
Thus ends another “I’m way too lazy to post detail descriptions of my recent purchases so I’ll take photos of my room instead” post brought to you by yours truly. If my crappy photos and commentaries were not enough, I have also included a uber crappy 2:24 minutes (30MB) video tour of my room. And sorry folks, there’ll be no hearing me talking and butching names and series left and right. Not like you want to hear my voice anyway considering how dull and high-pitched it gets ![]()

“I probably spend the majority of my time either on the chair or the bed. Don’t you love how I don’t even have to move that far to go between the two?”
Lol. Same here. Ok your room is much larger than mine. Its also much neater. But the dust levels are comparable. Quite the comprehensive photo tour though. You DO have a LOT More stuff than me.

Awesome. Totally Awesome.

Oh and I almost forgot to add- I can see you’re a big fan of Mai-HiME like me XD

heh, i don’t kno why but anime fans just seem to love looking at each others collections. using some software i got off mononari, i tracked unique visitors to my blog recently after posting pics of my collection at my blog, and the numbers were huge!
nice collection, man, lotsa neat stuff

I bought a swiffer duster from work and use that to brush over my collection every other week or so. It’s really handy as you can bend the handle and reach high places. It’s also good for cleaning the bases of PVC figures without having to take them off of it.

Wow, the new design is so small. The colours gives me a quiet feeling, it’s a pleasant style for reading. Though might be too small, but ok.
I read your blog since I love these stuff. I cannot buy them myself, but … I envy you, I’m so jealous about what you got. If I’m grown up and can do what the money I have, I will do exactly the same. Your collections are genius, really I so love it, I’m so jealous :D. Keep up the good blog.
(Damn, why I save all your collections, its yours?! Still it’s so awesome to see I just need to copy them and burn them on my backup dvd’s :P)

In all seriousness, you probably don’t want your parents messing with all that stuff, dusting or not. They just don’t get the value of these things.
Nice idea doing a video tour and tons of good stuff there though… would be interesting to work out just how much money you’ve spent on that room.
And Zanza, no one knows why we do, we just do. It’s a compulsive thing

Heh, I got the original PS2 version of the My-HiME game, and since I got the DX version I got a book, some stickers and a CD with it. Was probably cheaper than the PC version as well (though the PC release has more game content).

I think it’s just fun looking at other ppl’s collection.
I guess it really is just a compulsive thing like Varion suggest.

About dust, I’m using an anti-static spray (normally for computer monitors) when I wipe my table and shelf surfaces. It seems to work - I only start to notice the dust buildup after two instead of one week.
August 3rd, 2006 at 4:56 am
how much have you spent on all of that roughly ?
August 4th, 2006 at 11:23 am
And where did you get ninja lacus! NEEED!
August 4th, 2006 at 1:50 pm
Sakura, to answer both of your questions:
1. At least a few thousands by my guess. There’s no way, however, I’m going to track and figure the cost of all the anime-related merchandise I’ve bought.
2. Got the trading figure in the Lacus & Meer Special Box I bought awhile back through HLJ.

a few? I thought it would be in the 10k$ range
looking at all anime you have
(noticed the AIR R2 release not cheap
)
dam Discontinued
gotta get my hands on one of those boxes ;D
Thx for the answers

“and my Macross toy is actually a Transformer toy”
Wait a minute. That’s a Jetfire? That is worth quite a large sum of money to the right people.
