Working the E-Penis Factor

Just like all the other times, I risk financial poverty on a whim. Today I received my new InFocus IN72 DLP Projector from Woot and let me tell you, it’s fucking sweet.

See my crappy 5:30 minute (24MB) video for the awesomeness of the projector. Just to let you know, that’s basically my whole east side wall there. The first half of Haruhi shown is from the R2 DVD while the second half is from a fansub. It may be rather difficult to tell from the video, but the DVD (through HDMI at 1080i) looks eye dropping glorious! I know the projector downsizes/scales the resolution but even still, it is 100x better than my LCD and HDTV-ready monitors! For the fansub, it looks okay but probably could be better if it wasn’t through S-Video or if the video wasn’t using a low quality version of the episode. Also sorry about the audio, since I have a temporary audio system for the projector thanks to an old unused computer speaker system.

I’ll definitely need to buy a decent home theater sound system soon but after buying this projector, I’ll have to hold off for awhile. My best chance will probably be this year’s Black Friday sales; hopefully something decent will be sold. If anyone has any suggestions or links to decent low-to-middle priced home theater sound systems, I’m all ears.

BTW, for anyone keeping track, this is part one of two of the financially stupid things I did as I mentioned in my previous blog entry. For part two, all I can say is to check haruhiism.com in late February-March of 2007. I think Haruhi fans will be pleasantly surprised ;)

    oh sweet, a projector. man, that musta cost some green, i’ve been thinking of getting one but not sure where to put it

    Haha, I saw the prices for it before I made that comment. I need to know: is it worth it? Plus, the fact that the HD version is nearly twice the price is really depressing..
