Goodbye AX2007

Well if I ever even had plans of trying to go to AnimeExpo 2007, those got thrown out the window as I just did something financially stupid again. Goodbye hopes of seeing the SOS-Dan ladies in person. Goodbye sunny California. Goodbye my paychecks for the next x-month(s). More information later.

“Bad financial decisions since 2006″ should become my blog’s new motto :aorz:

Beachside Fun in da Sun

If one clicks on the screenshot above, one may notice something different. Yes, I went dual monitor. And yes, I got jealous of guys like DarkMirage and Tsubaki.

Unfortunately my second monitor is not another Dell 2407, though I could afford it if I really wanted to but instead the old school Dell 1702. Why such a old but still somewhat decent LCD you may ask? Well, I got it for free from my good bud James since he was able to acquire some through means I cannot say. Much to say, he made my day when I picked up the baby last week. But just like the saying, “nothing in life is ever for free,” I did find out the LCD is rather dim due to years of use and the DVI port apparently does not work. Luckily the CRT/VGA port works fine and the display is still pretty readable but just dim (especially compared to the 2407). Free is “free” however, so can’t really complain ;)

Honestly, I don’t even need to have a dual monitor setup since I’m no l33t coder/developer that needs multiple screens to code. Really just did it for kicks and giggles. Not that having a secondary monitor is a bad thing, however, as now I can use my main LCD to fully view webpages/code/anime while still having other programs open on the side. Basically, it means I can be more lazy and un-organize in what programs I have running. Great, isn’t it?

For random specs on the programs I’m currently running in the screenshot, UltraMon is probably the most important with the multi-monitor setup. The little program easily solves the issue of having a taskbar on non-primary display(s) plus allowing for specific wallpapers per display instead of the usual warp-around Windows does. Very nice is all I can say. The other major program I have running is Rainmeter, which I’ve mentioned in the past. The date shown at the bottom right of the To Heart2 display and system info on the top right of the Haruhi display are all thanks to the program. Finally I switched visual styles from GSM to SlanXP2 since GSM, while uber awesome, killed my eyes thanks to the font and was hell on the older 1702 LCD. It is nice to be able to read normally on both displays now without having to resort to clear type (which I personally hate with a passion).

Wallpaper source are below, both thanks to moe.imouto.org as they are scans I simply cropped and resize to my monitors’ resolutions. Photos of the monitors after the jump for those interested, including somewhat seeing what figures I currently have on my desk!

Wallpaper Source - To Heart2: 1920×1200 | Original (5852×4000)

Wallpaper Source - Haruhi: 1280×1024 | Original (3042×2129)

Yuki the IdolMaster

Laziness is my constant bed buddy, so to my long time readers (yes all five of you) it should come as no surprise I slacked on writing this entry. Actually, this time around it was part laziness and being pretty busy at work working on some back-end web scripts. Interesting stuff but the demands for what is needed constantly changes so it has been a pain re-coding my end since I code on the fly.

Anyway, BUBBA’s Yuki Nagato from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu finally arrived this week from the great folks at e2046. Moyism Crappy Photos™ and my commentary are after the jump. For better photos, please visit TedFox Anime Reviews and meidocafe.

In the Pursue of Happiness

When it rains, it pours. More to the point, when you have orders delayed from April and orders in May coming in at the same time, well just pray you don’t cry when you see the credit card bills.

If you have been following my posts on AB.net’s forum, this entry will be of little surprise beside including horribly taken photos but for others… well, read ‘em and weep ;)

Clean Up Duty

I was suppose to make this post two or so days ago but due to being stuck with Jury Duty have not had the time to write anything. Finally free of the annoying service for three years, I can do my once-in-a-lifetime (read: getting off my sorry lazy arse) purchase update for all the folks planning to rob me of my anime goods and other worldly possessions interested in my horrible spending habits.

Anyway, last week saw me receiving a lot of packages including Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ v4 LE, Comptiq Selections v2, Fate/Stay Night PS2 LE, Comic Himekuri Figure: Image Girl Black Dress, and Fate/Stay Night Swimsuit Rider from Alter. As I have said many times over in some way, shape, or form pending bankruptcy is always fun and unfortunately goes hand-in-hand when your secondary job career in life is being an anime fan.

Probably why no one does it as their main job career of choice ^^;;
