Gaijin Otaku Room

11/11/2007

It’s that time again my friends. The (in)famous bi/tri/quarterly monthly room photo update.

Where I end up spending 90% of my time daily due to work and The Hobby. One may notice that I cleared out the majority of my gashapons/trading figures from the dresser on the right; this was done to get some room for the recent and future PVC figures I’m getting. Unfortunately even with clearing out the gashas/TFs, I’m still running out of room ^^;;

One may note that my desk is a little cleaner, which was thanks due to my dad getting a pull out keyboard/mouse attachment for the desk. Now it doesn’t feel totally cramped plus in the worst case scenario, I’ll have additional space for some figures as well. +10 to whomever can name the figures shown in the above photo.

Kanu Unchou and Fasalina. Still love looking at Kanu as its simply a great figure on its own even after all these months of owning her. Fasalina is pretty cool and sexy but man, putting that pole through her breast was a b*tch! One probably can’t tell from the photo but I ended up screwing/twisting the pole parts through the breast opening to get ‘em through; this unfortunately had the side effect of marking her stomach/abs region with the purple pole color due to friction. Luckily one can’t really tell but it still sucks since I know its there.

+4 if one guessed Sakura from Fate Stay/Night, Inoue Toro from Dokodemo Issho, and Himekuri from er… somewhere?

Another +4 if one guessed Sana Horiuchi from Pia Carrot, Yuki from Haruhi, and Haruka from KGNE.

And the final +2 for Isuzu Tsumugi.

Finally unpackaged my Kureha from Shining Wind and its simply too beautiful for words. Thank god super rats is around to show and say what poor fools like myself cannot.

A tower of DVDs I have to “review” if I’m still up for the challenge. Kanon 8, Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou, To Heart 2 OVA 3, Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ 8-9, Haruhi 2-4, and Gundam 08th MS Team. I already reviewed Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou and Kanon 8 previously but for the others, if I had a quick comment on each they would probably be: To Heart 2 OVA 3 rocked thanks to Sasara. Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ made me sleep on multiple times and made me feel like a fool for collecting the series; had potential but went down the crapper mid-season. Haruhi is Haruhi and while all the extra goodies were nice, if it wasn’t for TRSI having studio sales I doubt I would have bought the limited editions. Gundam 08th MS Team reminds me there are good Gundam series out there afterall.

I’ve become a Vitamin Water whore of late. At least it’s slightly better than drinking soda. And yes, I got this/last month’s WIRED that had the feature about manga. Pretty good read IMHO.

More figures I have yet to review and probably will never get to.

If one has seen previously room photos, pretty much all the figures shown should look familiar. The only new one would be Clalaclan from Shining Wind. Great figure btw (see Shingo) although I’m always afraid the shield will fall due to how unsecured it is “attached” to the figure.

Some of my “oldies” figures.

Yep, took down the Tenjo Tenge calendar art I had framed to make room for Minori Chihara’s “Contact” promo poster :D

I’m such a loser for having it framed but the photo used of Minorin is just so cool and spicy!

More figures among random crap I don’t use anymore!

I swear that Saber in a swimsuit figure is slightly leaning everyday but I’m too lazy to do anything about it ^^;; Freeing’s Haruhi still rocks as ever as she’s still one of the biggest figures I currently have in my collection. And speaking of Haruhi, that Haruhi box she sitting on is kind of useless in storing all the DVDs since I got the limited editions. That is unless I want to toss out the limited edition “boxes” which would be kind of pointless for a collector like myself. Damn it Bandai, think of a better gimmick that doesn’t involve wasting extras next time!

Yes, I know I need to dust. Badly.

Yet more figures everyone whom has seen previously room photos should already know about.

+5 for anyone who can name what’s in this pile of goodies.

Revoltech figures, Alternator Transformers, my CD collection, console and PC games, and random other junk. I don’t think I’ve finished any of the games shown in this photo. Sad but true.

Empty boxes from figures keeping due to extra parts or because the box art is cool. Also of course, my DVD collection with all the box-sets out in front (including the signed Ichigo Mashimaro R2 prologue DVD by Noto Mamiko from Otakon 2007).

More empty boxes plus various plushies and recent artbook purchases. Yes, I know I’m running out of room. I’m working on that, I swear!

More plushies plus my manga collection. Thinking of selling my manga collection in the future if I really become tight for space considering I never read them more than once or twice.

The last section of figures, which now that I think about it, take up 70% of my room space. Oh god that sounds so sad the more I think about it :aorz:

Gashapons and trading figures I still deemed worthy to look at while all the others were packed into some boxes for storage. And no matter how times I look at it, damn, GP03′s gun is HUGE!

New figures for the most part. Sicma from Air Gear by Yamato was a recent purchase and hopefully a separate post I’ll have up sometime in the near future. For my quick review on her, overall not a bad figure but nothing too special to write about.

Hopefully next time I do a room update things will be more organized… or something… ^^;;

putting that pole through her breast was a b*tch!

    S….stick it in!

So I’ve noticed that Vitamin Water is pretty popular lately….is it really any good?

    Also, Cool x Spicy reference…..awesome.

  2. Ryan A on 11/11/2007 at 9:40 pm

Vitamin Water, mmmm, I keep them with me on school days. It is popular, but they are composed of decent ingredients… nice, plentiful, figurine bounty. I personally don’t own any, so may be this a good example of balance in the universe; awesome.

I second the cool and spicey reference lol ^_^

Well you could rent a storage locker and use a museum-esque rotation system to show off parts of your collection at a time. That or move into a bigger house. You could build some shelves or tear down a couple walls to claim more space by right of conquest.

You have proven your superiority once again, there is no way we mere mortals can fill a room in such a manner.

I hope you don’t invite any females for some hanky panky in your room…I think speaking for the woman race they’d be scare – unless they were a fat yaoi fangirl.

^to hide everything in the room 40 year old virgin style, or reveal everything in its glory densha otoko style…hm. i’d rather not go through the effort of hiding everything for a girl if i had a room like that lol. that could take days.

totali, hahaha I was waiting for someone to make that remark (stick it in!). And Vitamin Water isn’t too bad, basically like drinking any type of sports drink stuff. Plus as Ryan A mentioned, there’s actually some decent vitamins in ‘em too!

Ryan A, balance in the universe via figurine collecting huh? That’s a first. And yea, I just *had* to put in the cool x spicy reference somehow XD

Crusader, sorry but I’m not made of that much money. I wish I was but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Although, the “claim more space by right of conquest” does sound like an interesting option.

Hinano, LOL yea I know. And if it was a fat yaoi fangirl (scary as that sounds) wouldn’t they want more boys love stuff lying around?

wackedfoo, tis a good question I hope I don’t have to deal with for awhile ^^;; (man that sounds like a backwards comment no matter how I think about it)

You my friend need a glass display cabinet for you figures :P My room hasn’t changed much except for more stuff in it. But it’ll look no different to when I took photos at the start of this year, lol

    Nice post :)

I dont think that would be called dust though… looks clean if you compare it to my own room :p

Got all 4 Vols of Haruhi now. And I agree with you, the first box is hard to place as a first, boring construction for how to get the goodies and just plain awfull. Good thing the DVDs are great to watch :)

  9. bj0rN on 11/12/2007 at 10:53 am

OMG! HOW DID U GET THAT MINORIN POSTER?!

  10. Kitsune on 11/12/2007 at 12:08 pm

Awesome as ever but… it SO makes me wanna come over and dust xD
(am I obsessed with cleaning? No, just obsessed with figures~ )

  11. moyism on 11/12/2007 at 1:30 pm

Adun, yea I know but I’ve seen what others have gotten and they look kinda big. Plus I think with my current room setup, I don’t have room for one. Thanks for the suggestion anyways.

manga, trust me my room is dusty ;)

bj0rN, simple. It was a pain in the arse and involved sacrificing several cats, but a quick deal with a lower class demon got me what I wanted XD Nah, in reality CDJapan just happened to send me the poster as a freebie ;)

    Kitsune, LMAO

I’m thinking of moving into a larger apartment just so I can have a geek room. The anime stuff is just taking over my apartment and I don’t think I even have half the stuff you do. :)

luv that hard boiled poster. nice pickup on the shuraki akatsuki fig. the needa fig is tempting me to get back in the fig scene one more time (luv shunya figs in general, but w/ chiba saeko and the bonus art…don’t know if i can resist).

  14. bj0rN on 11/13/2007 at 1:35 am

OMG! I really want that poster. fark!

  15. lanie-emon on 11/13/2007 at 8:47 pm

Every time I see this it remind me that I need the mess that is my room ^^.

  16. AS on 11/14/2007 at 11:10 pm

You have one heck of an otaku room there lol, makes my otakuness feel inferior ^^. I was going to do a new post of my room as well as soon as I finish unpacking and rearranging everything as I have just moved. Looking at all of your stuff lol, makes me a bit glad I didn’t have that much to move.

  17. Rob on 7/24/2008 at 2:30 pm
