I guess it was bound to happen at one point. After 2-3 years of collecting figurines, I finally crossed the line I never thought I’d cross. I think a line from Moetan 7 as noted by Jaalin probably explains why this has happened, however, as “I can’t help buying figures of characters I don’t even like, just because I can see their breasts.”
With that being said, today I received Solid Theater’s original Kimono no Onna no Ko Isuzu Tsumugi PVC from Hobby Search. After reading Shingo’s review of the limited Hobby Stock version, I had fears that the production issues with the limited edition would translate over to the normal one as well. Are my fears well warranted or did Shingo just luck out? Read on to find out.
And before I forget, this is a NSFW post. If you’re afraid of getting caught at looking at horrible photos of plastic naked breasts, do not venture any further.
:aorz: should pretty much describe my overall feelings on Solid Theater’s Isuzu Tsumugi. Initially, I thought she looked fine after I took her out of the box and did a quick look for any major defects. Honestly the only major issue I noticed was the left side of her breast and bandages towards the yukata/kimono area where production got uber lazy. Also did notice a small issue with some random paint or something on her face but chalked that up to normal production mishaps as no figure is ever perfect. But beside that, I thought it was an okay figure and lacked a lot of the issues Shingo talked about in his review. It was only after I took photos of the figure that I noticed a lot more issues that I somehow missed.
For one, as noticed in my last photo, major scratches on part of Izusu’s hair. Most likely happened when it was packed and the hair rubbed together but it’s still something major and really annoying. Another issue was below her breasts where the lack of paint clean up was really obvious; part of the clothes’ black paint was on the breast plus the seam lines are in plain sight. Also the bandage paint was horribly done if you look at the figure from below as the original skin color still shows. Random “chipping” as I somewhat mentioned before at the left breast, the front right hair, and generally just all over became the final nail in the coffin.
Really, the only positive points I could give Solid Theater’s Isuzu Tsumugi were their choices of colors that work well and for selecting a cute character with an unique pose. I have a feeling if any other major figurine company like MegaHouse, MaxFactory, Alter, or GSC had make a similar figure, with or without showing female flesh, it would have been leagues better than the POS Solid Theater made.
So will Solid Theater’s rather shoddy Isuzu Tsumugi forever leave a bad taste in my mouth that I’ll never buy another ero figure? Probably not. It will, however, be a good reminder to always think twice before pulling the trigger on future purchases. Or more importantly, that breasts and nipples do not equal must buy

I’m happy to see that your copy wasn’t as badly marred as mine, and from the photos looks considerably nicer – though as you say, not without her deficiencies.
I do have hopes for the next entry in Solid Theater’s Onna no Ko series, perhaps misplaced, but they get such darn good designers working for them…
With this photos, your fig doesn’t look so flawed except the breasts ( horrible nipples
). What a shame that it’s low-quality :/
Besides, I’m not interested in buying ero figures, I prefer traditionnal figures
I might have gotten it, but then I realized that it would be rather difficult to display >_>
Hi, this is Peter Payne from J-List. Sorry for contacting you this way, but I’d like to ask the webmaster to email me at peterpayne, domain name gmail.com.
The nipple looks kinda funny to me ^^.
Shingo, yea. I’ll be looking forward to the next entry as well but will be very weary on whether or not to purchase it. Still slightly annoyed how much potential this figure had before going to the crapper
kuouray, my crappy camera skills hide some of the more obvious issues if you actually look at the figure. And hey, I’ll go for any (female) figure if it’s good, ero or not!
Zeroblade, trust me it’s a good thing you didn’t purchase Isuzu. You saved yourself a few bucks that could go to a way better purchase.
Peter Payne, hey man sorry but I’m not interested. LOL this is like the 3rd time you’ve contacted me ^^;;
lanie-emon, now that I look at the figure again, yea you have a point. Just chalk up another bad point for Solid Theater and their uber fail on this one.
Thx for the website, it looks promising. (Well, only credit cards… I don’t have one yet.) And … LOL. (Good shooting, if I shoot that close my camara unsharps/ dizzies the picture. Nope manual focussing isn’t working well. My camara won’t let me shoot from that short distance.)
