TRSI is easily the place to go when you want to purchase anime in the US online, especially with their 10% off for members, free shipping over $49, and insane weekly studio sales where one can save up to 46% off the retail price. Usually I do 99.9% of all my R1 DVD and occasional manga purchasing from them since one will be hard pressed to beat the prices and quality of service TRSI offers.
This week, my opinion of TRSI just went through the roof after I received a part of my order from their Bandai studio sales a few weeks back.
It’s one thing to expect flyers or a sample DVD/manga of other titles TRSI sells, but to have gotten Full Metal Panic: The 2nd Raid volume 1 DVD (no case, just a simple CD paper slip) for free blew my mind away. At best when I initially looked at the extra crap in the package, I figured it’ll be the first episode to sample ala NewType USA’s DVDs; but after loading the disc one can imagine my surprise and delight that it was the first volume and not episode!
For this, TRSI will forever have hold of my wallet until the day I die.
Glad to hear that TSRI has given some honey to a very good customer like you.
I had a rather more mixed experience recently though… was tempted to pre-order the Haruhi DVD 1 pre-order when I got the TSRI email on 15 Mar. Thank goodness for procrastination because, two weeks later, TSRI was offering 40% off on all Bandai goodies, including the Haruhi pre-order!! If I had pre-order on before then, it would have been a serious case of OTL…
i need to move to the US
moy, do you need a room mate?
I got the same deal, too, but it was for Baki the Grappler and the video quality didn’t seem too good. The DVD came with the 2 manga purchases I made.
Rofl now that you mention it….. (digs through the pile of dvds on his desk) I just notice the Moon Phase DVD I got from my last Right Stuf package…. If you haven’t mention it I did have thought it was a promo disk too ~~.
WTF?! they give free dvds?! if i didn’t get customs from trsi, i’d order from them more.
Zyl, yea sounds like you got lucky there. I’ve heard for people whom have already pre-ordered Haruhi before the sale, they were told not to cancel and reorder. It would shoot their chance at the DVD like crazy or something.
Zanza, while I wouldn’t mind a roomie I’m still live with the rents. I don’t think they want a random stranger, however friendly, in the house out of the blue XD
Hostile, ah cool. Nice to know TRSI treat their customers right.
Vinn, haha that’s why you should always check what extra junk you may receive in your packages. Every once in awhile you’ll be bound to find/get something nice
R8, I guess so. Honestly I’ve never heard about it until it happened to me. My guess it’s surplus stock or returned DVDs that are perfectly fine.
