Waitresses to Go

Seems like I’m a high roller this month with the amount of spending I’ve been doing of late. Maybe it’s because of the changing of seasons, being “strict” with limited spending for x-months, or lack of general financial skills but every week has seem me get various goodies for everyone to enjoy and be jealous of. Luckily, at least for now, this month is pretty much done as 80% of what I have ordered has been delivered; now only waiting on like five or so goodies that should be released by the end of month.

I want to say, “it’s good to be the king” but something along the lines of “OMFG I got to stop spending if I want to have any money left! Get away from the computer, all online stores, and your credit cards as soon as possible you fool!” seems more appropriate.

Anyway, this week’s haul after the jump, which includes crappy photos of GSC’s Rin Tohsaka Maid Uniform from Fate/Stay Night, Kotobukiya’s Sana Horiuchi Devil Type from the Pai Carrot series, and MaxFactory’s Pachira from Renkin 3-kyuu Magical? Pokahn await all whom are interested.

GSC’s Rin Tohsaka Maid Uniform from Fate/Stay Night. For some reason, I thought the figure would be a bit bigger. I think part of the reason I thought that is I rarely ever look at a figure’s scale when release announcements with photos come out, unlike one of my more financial conscious figurine collecting brethren. To sum my method of buying, it is simply the following: pretty photos –> cost –> GET.

… no wonder I’m broke this month.

Back to the figure, overall not too bad although I can never imagine Rin in that pose or costume if not due to a bet or proving (a ridiculous) point (which usually involve “evil” revenge later on).

As one can tell, the huge flowing skirt is removable if one so desires, though there may be a slight gap between Rin’s lower waist and where the lingerie meet. My photos show the obvious point of assembly where it would be, but do take into account it’ll be a bit less since I just quickly put Rin like that for the photos. Honestly, you need the skirt attached given Rin’s pose of holding the darn thing; without it she just looks foolish.

Though the more I think about it, however, those with creative minds could probably think of some interesting poses with Rin like that with some other figures (off the top of my head, her b*tch-slapping or riding them like a horse).

Overall, as I mentioned a bit before, a decent purchase. Best recommended to those that are fans of Fate/Stay Night or females in maid/waitresses cosplay. Added bonus to purchase the figure if one also has GSC’s Saber Maid as the two figures’ bases combine to create a diorama of sorts.

Kotobukiya’s Sana Horiuchi Devil Type from the Pai Carrot series. I was interested in this figure a few months back when it was initially released but at the time either couldn’t afford it or figured it’ll be there anytime I want. After reading super rats’ review later on, I decided there and then to buy her but unfortunately by then all places were sold out. Luckily the figure gods and goddesses decided to make Kotobukiya re-release the figure this month much to delight. The rest, as they say, is history

Just to let you know, I didn’t attempt to switch the front breast part to one that allows er… to see more of the “eyes” as Danny Choo would put it. Too much hassle and I did not want to deal with the situation of me accidentally breaking something if I got too zealous doing so.

Anyway, I have Sakura “the Breasts” Matou (Swimsuit Edition) next to Sana to balance things out so it all works out in the end

Sometimes I think I just follow the crowd and buy things just because others have them. In that vein, I’m partly blaming Shingo and super rats for getting me interested in this flat-chested girl. While I was somewhat interested in the figure when I heard the announcement many moons ago, the initial photos I saw didn’t peak my interest much. It was only after the Japanese release was sold out and reading some reviews that I started to really want her. Once again luck was on my side, as Pachira saw a US release this month so I did not have to deal with trying to hunt a copy down; TRSI even pulling through and actually delivering the figure two weeks earlier than listed on their site!

I honestly have nothing bad to say about the figure, other than one small complaint: on the left backside of my figure, there’s a small scuff. I don’t know if it was like that when I got the figure or if I accidentally did that when I had to take the figure apart to remove all the plastic wrapping. It’s decently visible since the scuff is a different color on the figure’s otherwise perfectly colored back. While I know no figure is perfect, and small stuff like this is a fact of life, one always hope such marks aren’t too visible. I guess it’s fine, at least for now, since I don’t look at Pachira’s backside much considering where I have her displayed. ‘Tis just a bit annoying if I think about it
