Oh Sh*t! Otakon ’08!
Is it that time of the year again? Unlike last year where I was uber hyped about going to Otakon, this year it seem to just hit me in the face. Mostly thanks to Omo I’ve been getting constant remainders that yes, Otakon 08 is only a few days away.
I guess because I now know what to expect, I’m not in a big rush to try to prepare. Heck I’ll probably pack the night before or day of when I head down this Thursday with a few friends (#$@! once again volunteered to drive, something which I have to stop doing one day). At least this year I was able to take off Thursday through Monday so I’ll have plenty of time to relax and enjoy Otakon without the worries of rushing back for work the following Monday.
Really the only things con-wise I’m looking forward to are the musical guests, JAM Project being the biggest of course. I don’t have any illusions of me being able to get an autograph considering how insane their line will be but definitely can’t wait to hear them live after years of watching Animelo and seeing how energized the audience gets. Probably should brush up on my JAM Project songs though, considering I know like 1/10th of their works… anyone have a good set of songs I should listen to?
Obivously the other big thing I’m looking forward to is meeting more anime bloggers and readers (do I even have any left). Last year really only met Ten though after reading others reports, may have seen Omo and a few others without realizing who they were. This year I hope to meet at least more than two, but who knows considering my attempts to meet people by giving away free stuff only went so-so -_-
(Un)fortunately this year, couldn’t do anything like that due to time and money. I depending whether or not to wear the one I did last year but we’ll see. Seriously, anime bloggers need to get some union-type “work”ware so it’ll be easier for others (*cough* myself *cough*) to spot them.. that is, if they want to be spotted. Maybe next year, if I decide to go again, I can work something out as long as I get blood promises from folks willing to go in on the idea. Last thing I need are customized clothes I can’t give to the person(s) due to them opting out at the last second.
Anyway those are my “big” plans for Otakon, which aren’t much to say the least. I’m pretty much gonna be free roaming around or bumming so if anyone wants to meet up let me know. I swear I don’t bite… for the first hour or so @_@
You know I’ll be there. Be sure to show up at my Touhou panel on Friday from 6-7PM in Panel 1.
If I ever had the inclination to go to an anime con, I’d most definitely wear my Anime Nano shirt. The one I invented. I wonder how many people would recognize me/the site. Perhaps one day out of curiosity I’d go to a con but for now I’ll live vicariously through bloggers!
I’ll be there and try to at least go to the karoake meetup thing that omo is wrangling people for.

Too far for me~. However I have the same problem in France to meet anime bloggers/readers in events ^^. I know someone who brings his racoon plush in order to be recognized.

omo, I think you’ve hit on a great idea! I need to market this now while the iron is still hot! And yea, can’t wait to hopefully meet folks this year… don’t know bout jumping around like an idiot during the concert though ^^;;
… and yea, I’ll have the blu ray release once it actually goes on sale. Maybe two copies if I feel inclined LOL
It’s right before JAM Project. Concert is at 7:30, so you can bask in the gloriousness of my panel, then hop on over to the concert line. Yeah, that’s cutting it slightly too close, but it’s not like even half the concert hall will be filled.
This is all worth it for Touhou!
