Random Otaku Room #777

2/16/2010

The world must be coming to an end as I’ve updated this blog three days straight! Even if the posts are crappy, that’s probably the most I’ve ever updated the blog in months! Go me!

Anyway this update is an oldie but goodie, my quarterly(?) room photo post! Really mostly to satisfy @prajantr‘s curiosity to see what my otaku room is like, I figured may as well make a post while I’m at it. For those that have been following my “otaku room” series, all I can say is I’m sorry and man, every post I always have more crap in ‘em ^^;;

Basically what it looks like as soon as you walk in. Really not much has changed since last time other than more figures and posters, which I’ll go into more detail in a bit.

More figures and stuff I’ll probably never open due to space. Also cleaned up the magazine mess moving them to their own shelving.

Figures you’ll see as you go to the bathroom. Tis been the same for months/years I believe.

The two Nanoha figures any decent fan with the money should have. Lovely figures from what I can tell through the box and seeing others’ photos. Probably will never open them since I’ll be too lazy to dust them off; plus I don’t have any room at the moment ^^;;

My DVD/Bluray/Signed items shelves. Had to reorganize the whole shelf, basically cramming more DVDs per shelf to make room for my non-anime DVDs/Blurays. Also the two big tubes you see hold my various posters that I don’t put up but are somewhat important to keep safe (i.e. my Nana and AKB48 ones).

Probably can’t tell from the image, but every DVD that’s displayed in the front part of the shelves are all signed. Have fun guessing (if you can see at all) who signed what media!

Mostly the big figures I can’t fit in the glass cabinets and whatnot.

The bed and probably one of the few times you’ll ever see it half-way decently made ^^;; New poster since last time as well, Atsuko Maeda from AKB48 from her 2010 calendar that I picked up while in Japan. Not bad and you have to admit, 90% of the time any poster looks 5x better framed versus not framed right?

Basically my “back” wall? Also another new poster, Haruna Kojima from AKB48 looking good in that blue one piece dress. Sadly I’m really out of room for these posters as maybe, I can hang two more if I pushed it. It’ll be interesting to see what I’ll do once that happens…

Just a quick shot of my HTC Touch Pro 2 in its cradle. Really glad I picked up the cradle for like 12USD on ebay; really it just allows me to stand up my phone so I can use it as an clock/alarm when I wake up in the morning XD

You’ll also see I moved all my magazines and artbooks to these shelves to save/maximize the space I have left. Sadly also running out of room here as well.

Where any good otaku will spend a majority of their freetime when they’re a NEET orz

Closer look at my PC setup and yes, I’m still loving the portrait monitor setup!

Scanner, mini-fridge, and misc clear file folders I’m using to sort various crap. Mostly seiyuu photo cards and other billing stuff, nice to finally find a use for the folders!

My tower of CDs and one of my (still) favorite Minorin shots. God I won’t tell you how long it took me to sort my CDs in alphabetical order, but let’s just say I was mighty glad when I was done ^^;;

Got to watch anime, Nana, and various idols on a big screen right? Surprisingly no big screen upgrade this time around, although that’s mostly due to financial issues rather than any personal reason not to ^_~

Bought a cheap “game chair” to sit while under the kotatsu which makes things a lot better than sitting on the bare cold floor.

Yes, I know I need to dust. Badly.

Very Badly.

Picked up a second glass shelf many moons ago to move all the figures I had lining around the plasma and whatnot. Looks better plus they get less dusty that way.

It’s sad they’re both completely maxed out although I could use a third one if I ever find room or the money to do so ^^;;

FFXIII soda can (yes somehow it made it in one piece from Japan to HK to USA) and random figure boxes I’m keeping as well as Japanese PC/PS2/PSP games in the back.

Theme: put as many figures as possible and luckily pull off a “bunny girl & maid” theme at the end

Theme: play figure tetris to see how many figures I could get in on a shelf without activating the row deletion feature ^^;;

Theme: Rock ‘n Roll?

Theme: Nanoha, Swimsuits, and Dust!

Theme: Dust v2 and Gundams!

Theme: Stuff the big figures and pray nothing falls

Theme: Red red red red!

Theme: Junk the figures until you can junk no more!

Theme: Wedding Dress with reincarnated warriors as guards?

And that ladies and gentlemen, sums up another fun trip to moyism’s “otaku room”. Stay tuned until next time when I will probably do something financial stupid again only to regret/enjoy whatever ill-gotten gains it’ll be!

    wow an extremely neat person I see. I have less stuff in my room and it’s still messier than yours, even considering that i have a maid -.-” haha but your room would look a billion times better if you were as Nana-crazy as Danie ^^ (and from what i see from pictures, Danie’s room is messy!!).

    considering that…well i don’t work, so i only get Nana products as presents, i only have ONE Nana poster (the Live Diamond x Fever one, with the fugly words at the bottom) and 5 Nana products. rest-assured that when i get my new room (which is much bigger) and collect as many Nana stuff as i can, my room will be Nana paradise, a neat one of course ^^ (i need to get those photo/poster frames soon, i can’t leave my Nana poster hanging there with tape all over!!)

    WHOA?!?! GAME CHAIR!!! =D They can be quite expensive! From the last time I checked (long time ago), they were around $100-200, which is just ridiculous! They do look comfy though.

    Also, a question! What do you use to dust your figures? I was deciding on one of those mini-vacuum/blower combos, but maybe just a stick with a rag on it would do?

    I think you might have more IkkiTousen figures than me. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.

    Some of those posters look great. I really should frame a few of mine. Maybe when I get a new place and actually have some room to hang them.

    Oh yeah…

    @pure_awesome I try to keep my room looking at least organized even though I may not remember where everything is. And yea about the Nana stuff, but I try to balance my anime, seiyuu & idol fandom so I have a good mix of everything. Horrible for the wallet, I’ll tell you that much!

    @Jesus159159159 well it’s called a “game chair” but its not really. Cheap 30USD thing I picked up at Target one day. When I do dust off my figures, usually just use a rag/towel and some water; nothing too special.

    @Alex D that’s surprising. I only have 10 and they’re like all Ryomou & Kanu ^^;; And yea, you should frame some of your stuff since I know you have at least a closet or more of merchandise you can work with! LOL you damn psychic; you got everyone right, than again I was in line w/ you for 1/2 of them so… XD

    Nice.

    But I still outrank you in the dust department. And having more boxes around that do no greater good than just standing there with my computer components boxes :p

    Need to get everything into position and fix this room. So I can lead a somewhat healthy life here instead of just being a big place for stacking boxes and stuff.

    But back to your room. Great fun. I need to get another monitor so I can use it in portrait mode for browsing and status from the computer.

    And wow, lots of figures. Loads and loads of figures. I´m just happy I´m not into getting figures. They look to expensive for me.

    It’s pleasant to follow the evolution of your otaku room over the years.
    I see that you still have your custom kotatsu :D
    I love your red theme figures~

    @manga : yeah it is. I was into getting figures but now I can’t afford them. However it’s difficult to resist when I see the new figures of Wonder Festival D:

  7. manga on 2/18/2010 at 9:17 pm

    @kyouray: I can resist most figures because I find that they don´t even come close in apperance to the character they are supposed to be.

    But those cute nendroids of Hitagi, Ranka and so on are starting to tick my interest into “hm, those are cute, and quite cheap, BUY THEM!!” thoughts…

    It´s just to bad I don´t have the space for them. My room is full as it is.

    Woah… I have to definitely nod my head to yours and Omo’s otaku room. So far in my life I have seen a couple of friend’s places.. and yeah so your place is definitely more comfortable and reminding me of when I dormed. >_< Sad, but yeah my room is pretty embarrassing, so I have to say that your room is really nice. I would so drool over your figures if I haven't read the comments and lol-ed at them.

    Dude, could you teach me on how to setup the potrait setup for your desktop? xD

  11. manga on 2/24/2010 at 8:46 am

    @bjorN: Setting it up in portrait mode is quite simple.

    All depending on what OS you use obviously but for Windows 7 it´s simple. Right click on the desktop and select “Screen Resolution”

    Then choose the monitor you want to change. Go to the “orientation” option and pick Portrait there and then click apply and voila. It´s done :)

    I just stumbled onto your website yesterday and have been reading up. It is a most impressive room you have assembled. If you chloroformed me and I woke up in your room tied to a chair and asked where I was and you did not say Japan, I wouldn’t believe you.

    Anyhow, I can’t help thinking that your collection of figures could probably put me through my remaining years of college. It is just such an impressive collection. Your room also reminded me to purchase some poster frames, so cheers for that.

    It is so nice and with all the figurine you had collected so far. I also had some same figure as you like the C.C. and the Onegai Teacher lol.
    I can’t imagine how much you had spend on those figure and other by product.
